Understanding the Victims
When a victim of domestic violence chooses to leave their abuser, not only are they, and in many cases their children, walking away from their home and everything familiar, but they are also challenging the power and control their abuser has over them. This challenge leads to an increased likelihood of fatal violence as the abuser tries to regain control.
It is truly a leap of faith to make the journey from DV victim to DV Survivor.
It takes COURAGE to leave, HOPE & STRENGTH to overcome challenges along the way, RESPECT for oneself to continue toward EMPOWERMENT, until you believe in your own DIGNITY as a SURVIVOR.
